The iconic New York skyline, with the famous Chrysler Building clearly visible in the centre. Painted using a minimal palette, and using Paul’s trademark dripping style to really capture the architectural shapes and forms within this timeless scene.

San Francisco was such an inspirational place. The Golden Gate Bridge has a unique raw energy and buzz surrounding it. I scattered red splashes on the canvas to represent the echos of noise and movement from the traffic overhead.
A map of New York provided the start point for this unique work. Paul has used the actual map as his canvas, working into it with his loose and painterly style with strong black inks and subtle metallic tones, the detail and textures of the map underpinning the whole scene.
