To create this striking piece, Paul forms the mountain with many thick textural layers. Using a long brush, he then paints vertical lines, which catch on the raised surface of the painting, revealing the texture of the mountain underneath. Paul’s strong use of black paint creates a bold image and composition, and evokes a sense of the drama involved in climbing the most extreme mountains.
I don’t know exactly where my painting will take me next, but I do know that maybe the journey is more important than the final decision
