This watercolour and ink painting captures the hustle and bustle of a busy New York street. A pedestrian braves the rain with an umbrella, whilst taxi’s zip ahead in their iconic brilliant yellow colour.
Paul paints the scene with loose gestural marks in watercolours, before working over the top with bold ink lines to add structure. The haste in Paul’s approach suggests the constant motion and liveliness of city life.
