Portraying a tranquil riverside London scene, boats bob on the water and luscious leafy trees line the Thames. Working predominantly with a palette knife, Paul has scraped paint onto the metal to capture a variety of textures.
In this richly coloured piece, orange streams of light draw the viewers eye towards Big Ben in the distance, and the blue hues of the sky reflected in the water add to the feeling of calm
You might also enjoy these other London paintings from Paul's 365 Project. This was a year-long journey exploring a different range of mediums & working at sizes often smaller, than with his studio pieces. In many cases these formed the studies behind the larger studio works.

The skyline features a unique blend of buildings both old and new that distinguishes the London cityscape from so many other capitals. Using a range of mediums, from oils to watercolours, acrylics to pastels, Paul strives to represent this iconic element of the city’s culture in all his paintings, always seeking to best highlight the diversity of the architecture and to encapsulate the multitude of moods this provokes.
