“Singular Summit”

Painting with layers of thick oil paint, Paul sculpts the rocky texture of the jagged mountain terrain. A tonal palette allows Paul to focus on the dramatic contrasts between light and shadow, emphasising the mountains’ monumental three-dimensional volume. Inspired by his experiences of scaling some of the highest peaks, Paul aims to recreate his feeling of absolute awe when immersed in this extreme foreign environment.
I don’t know exactly where my painting will take me next, but I do know that maybe the journey is more important than the final decision
