The city’s iconic skyline, complete with the Thames and familiar architectural silhouettes, emerges through a tapestry of layered brushwork, metallic textures, and refracted hues. This piece captures the capital in flux: bold, fragmented, and ever-shifting, like a city seen through a prism. The horizon line dances with energy as vibrant tones break apart and reassemble, echoing London’s constant reinvention. What makes this piece even more distinct is its origin. The base canvas began not on the easel, but on the floor of Paul’s studio, where it spent months absorbing the spills, strokes, and colour tests of countless paintings. As it built up natural texture and layered pigment, it became a living record of Paul’s practice. Repurposed and reworked into the final composition, the surface retains ghost traces of his Doc Martens, his studio staple, grounding the artwork in both the physical rhythm of making and the spirit of the city streets that inspire it.
