Spanning six panels, this unique statement piece engulfs the viewer in the immense scale of the New York City skyline and its towering high-rise buildings. Like a long exposure photograph, dazzling streams of light weave throughout the painting, emulating the constant movement of traffic and people.
Layers of paint marks and drips are built up to echo the density of the city, and to form the buildings of the iconic Manhattan skyline, including the Chrysler Building, the Bank of America Tower, 4 Times Square Tower and the Citigroup Center. Working onto aluminium, Paul forms skyscrapers that reflect light and movement, much like they would in reality.
I aimed to capture the dizzying feel of night timelapse photography, with its dazzling trails of light, emanating from cars flowing up the main streets and across the intersections.

The different segments of the painting can be displayed closely together, or more widely spread to emphasise the modular nature of the composition.
When given a 3cm gap between each segment, the overall piece will measure approximately 375cm wide. Consideration should be given as to whether you would like to allow for additional breathing space.
