Mixed Media on Copper
This is a piece that really will undergo a metamorphosis as you look at it, depending on your altering light conditions and your point of view.
The stark contrast of the bold, textured matte strokes comprising the London skyline against the reflective, changing patina of the metal allow you to truly experience the late stages of Golden Hour.
The silhouette of London’s horizon is instantly recognisable with buildings such as the Shard, the Gherkin and the ‘Walkie Talkie’ rising above the city and the River Thames.
The unique colour tones created by each metal help set the base colour temperature and warmth of the whole composition. This helps to dictate the mood, and hence my intention for the piece before I even start.
The amazing patinas in the copper become part of the art, helping to drive the light, shadow and movement in each piece.
