Looking across the Thames towards Big Ben and Westminster, the moody evening light soaks the scene in subtle copper, bronze, and gold tones.

A flash of red across Westminster bridge suggests the movement of a red bus, one of London’s principal icons. Quick dripped lines give a sense of fluidity and pace to the painting’s surface, and also add detail to the structural forms within the piece.

Responding rapidly to the scene, Paul keeps his brush marks visible and loose, focussing on capturing the ever-fleeting moments of light.
