A red double-decker rolls down a quiet London street as a famous clock tower dissolves into the morning haze beyond. Figures stride the pavements on either side, their shadows stretching across the damp road, while warm sepia light spills from the far end of the avenue. There is a gentle, unhurried sense of the day getting under way.
Worked in warm-toned ink, the painting wraps solid architecture in soft, vaporous atmosphere, the bus anchoring the composition with quiet weight.
