Beneath a great arched roof, two trains wait at the platform as silhouetted commuters drift towards the exit, their reflections smudged across the wet stone. A station clock keeps watch over the soft grey light, and the long curve of the vault draws the eye down the tracks. It is the quiet, in-between hour of a journey home.
Worked entirely in tonal ink washes, the piece balances loose, atmospheric passages with the confident architecture of the canopy overhead.
This is an original ink painting on Indian paper, part of the Artisan Paper Collection, float mounted with a black frame, by Paul Kenton.
