The view east along the Thames, as a fleeting moment of sunlight lights up this prominent icon in London’s skyline. Against an overcast sky, the Shard is formed with silver leaf to portray its glassy shine. Light catching the ripples in the Thames is emphasised by more silver leaf, giving this piece the unique ability to reflect the light of your space.
Using a wet-on-wet technique, Paul allows the paint to subtly blend and drip to give the impression of heavy ominous rainclouds overhead. Paul’s finishes this piece with his signature drip effect to add fluid structure and line.
This piece combines a variety of mediums, including photography, dripped paint and silver leaf.

You might also enjoy these other London paintings from Paul's 365 Project. This was a year-long journey exploring a different range of mediums & working at sizes often smaller, than with his studio pieces. In many cases these formed the studies behind the larger studio works.
