“Typewriter”
48" x 48"
Mixed Media on Aluminium
Original Painting
Black floating frame
I’ve always loved the 70s and 80s typewriters with its hammer keys, and the satisfying swish and click when they hit the ink tape and transfer onto the paper. Hours were spent just enjoying the buttons rather than writing the next novel. Inevitably, the ink dried out and the typewriter gathered dust – but not this one.
Surrounding the typewriter, vibrant paint has been scraped across the aluminium creating a piece which is both textured and smooth, and detailed and blurred. Shining exposed aluminium bring the typewriter into sharp focus as it reflects nearby light.
