‘Tyre Texture’ captures a classic sports car in rapid acceleration. Using rich oils, Paul paints with a variety of marks to emulate the rough groves of the tyres and the grainy texture of the road surface. Areas of exposed aluminium mimic the smooth metallic curves of the bonnet, whilst a monochrome palette furthers the intensity and drama. Blurred edges give the sense of zooming ahead at fast speed. You can almost hear the roar of the engine and smell the aroma of burning rubber filling the air.
