In “Nocturne Blossoms”, Paul draws inspiration from Monet’s water lilies, reimagining them with a modern inflection. The metallic hues of pinks, blues, greens, and golds ripple across the moonlit pond, which when accentuated by Paul’s extreme impasto application, create an iridescent glow that transforms with every glance. The textured lily pads seem to float on a surface of shimmering light, a nod to Monet’s impressionist brushstrokes, yet reinterpreted through Paul’s use of metallics. This fusion of classic and contemporary brings the timeless beauty of nature into the present, capturing the delicate interplay of light, colour, and dimensionality.

“Nocturne Blossoms” is an Original Landscape Painting by Paul Kenton, of water lilies floating on a moonlit pond, with iridescent metallic colours including pinks, blues, greens, and golds inspired by Monet’s classic works.. Paul is an avid ‘Plein Air’ painter, whereby he will explore the landscapes, countrysides and coastlines of the countries he travels to, and will capture the scenes in paintings and sketches whilst outside in the open air. Paul then often uses these smaller artworks as the inspiration and guidance behind his larger studio works. In his 365 Project, Paul actually dedicated an entire year to creating art ‘Plein Air’ every single day. In the trailer for the project, Paul can be seen painting from the waters of his local Devon coastlines, all the way to the streets of Manhattan: Watch Paul painting ‘Plein Air’ in the 365 Project Trailer on YouTube.
