This work was initiated by digitising an original Time Square cityscape painting in mixed media on aluminium sheet. Energetic drips & splatters of colour imitate the vigorous movement and flashing fluorescent lights of Times Square, Manhattan. Reflections ripple like wavelengths on the rain covered streets, exuding the same power and energy charging through the iconic intersection. The New York City scene is portrayed as a hallucinogenic neon vision of the progression of time, interwoven with the ever increasing pervasiveness of cryptocurrency.
To create this NYC piece, the physical painting was digitised using a Leica M (Type 240) rangefinder camera, paired with the Leica Summilux-M 1:1.4/35 lens for superlative colour depth and image quality, preserving the tones and textures of the source painting. Additional photography utilising various lighting effects and texture reference imagery was taken. The composite images were then enhanced and expanded upon through digital manipulation and motion in three dimensional space to create the final NFT.
