A digital progression of an original cityscape painting of Grand Central Station, painted with mixed media on aluminium. Crowds pace through the station’s vast concourse beneath the iconic information booth clock, emphasising the constant passing of time. Large arched windows flood the concourse with light, illuminating this monumental meeting place within central New York City.
To create this NYC piece, the physical oil paintings were digitised using a Leica M (Type 240) rangefinder camera, paired with the Leica Summilux-M 1:1.4/35 lens for superlative colour depth and image quality, preserving the tones and textures of the source painting. These images were then composited, enhanced and expanded upon, introducing digital manipulation and motion in 3D space to create the final artwork.
