"Chrysler in Gold" is a large-scale New York street scene dominated by the Chrysler Building, its silver crown rising against a bright blue sky as the avenue below stretches away between densely worked facades of gold, amber and terracotta. The foreground crossing fans out towards the viewer in radiating strokes, pulling you into the composition, whilst layers of splattered and scraped paint give the whole surface an energy that suits the subject. Painted in mixed media on boxed canvas at 190 x 120cm, it's a big, commanding original with a huge amount of detail to explore up close.
