Abstract
Where the structure drops away. Paul has always said there is a lot of abstraction inside the paintings; here it is on the surface.
Skylines reduced to a floating band of gesture, the Thames as a single line of gold across an exploding city, bold vertical runs of colour, a still life of flowers built from nothing but brushwork. Mixed media on canvas and aluminium, some finished with gold leaf.
