Golden Flowing Thames
London2026
Description
Golden Flowing Thames looks down on London from high above, the river reimagined as a single sweeping line of gold that threads across the canvas from edge to edge. Below it, the city dissolves entirely into abstraction — a dense, explosive field of deep blue, crimson, red and white paint marks that capture London's energy without describing a single building.
At 214 x 87cm, painted in mixed media on boxed canvas, this is one of Paul's largest and most confident London works. The gold river holds the composition together, drawing the eye along its full sweeping length while the surrounding chaos of colour and texture does the rest.
An original, one-off work from the London Collection — the river captured not as it looks, but as it feels from above.
