The Atlantic shimmers under the last light of the day, golden reflections dancing across rolling waves. Painted directly from the coastline, this oil study captures the ever-changing mood of the sea and sky. With expressive strokes and rich, layered textures, it transports you to a quiet moment before nightfall, where the ocean’s restless energy meets the warmth of the fading sun.

“Last Light in Biarritz” is an Original Seascape Painting by Paul Kenton. An oil painting of Biarritz’s coastline, where golden light meets swirling Atlantic waters.

Paul is an avid ‘Plein Air’ painter, whereby he will explore the landscapes, countrysides and coastlines of the countries he travels to, and will capture the scenes in paintings and sketches whilst outside in the open air. Paul then often uses these smaller artworks as the inspiration and guidance behind his larger studio works. In his 365 Project, Paul actually dedicated an entire year to creating art ‘Plein Air’ every single day. In the trailer for the project, Paul can be seen painting from the waters of his local Devon coastlines, all the way to the streets of Manhattan: Watch Paul painting ‘Plein Air’ in the 365 Project Trailer on YouTube.
