A low sun burns gold at the horizon, its rays fanning upward into a sky streaked with peach and lavender cloud. The light surges down across the water in a broad luminous channel, the tide breaking into bands of turquoise and warm orange that ripple right to the foreground. There is movement and energy in every wash, a tide of colour rolling toward the shore.
Kenton builds the scene in fluid horizontal layers, the gouache catching the dazzle where sun meets sea.
