“Monochrome Manhattan”

A line of cars and cabs streams down a Manhattan avenue, hemmed in by soaring towers that climb out of the top of the frame. A bare tree stands sentinel at the kerb, and the road shimmers with the smeared reflections of the traffic and the buildings overhead.
Kenton renders the whole scene in dramatic black and white, the ink splashed and dragged to suggest speed, glass and the restless energy of the street. The mood is pure New York, fast and electric.
This is an original ink on Indian paper, part of the Artisan Paper Collection, float mounted with a black frame, by Paul Kenton.
