A handsome corner townhouse leans into the frame, its bracketed cornice and shuttered windows caught in soft grey wash, while a line of telegraph poles draws the eye down an empty street. A lone figure dissolves into the distance and bare branches scratch against the pale sky, lending the scene a still, early-morning quiet.
Kenton works the ink with restraint here, letting wet pools and dry, nervous lines describe the architecture without ever tightening into detail. Shadows pool in the foreground gutter, grounding the composition in cool tonal calm.
