“I painted this one on location at Perranporth, Cornwall, as the sun was setting. Using a subdued pastel colour palette and light wispy brushwork, I portrayed the tranquility of the sunset and water that evening. Just a few small waves rolled gently into the shore, leaving a huge expanse of wet sand to reflect the rock and sky beautifully. The rock sits in the centre, with its unusual shape in shadow and flag atop, forming a focal point to the piece.”
