Sunlight slants down a deep canyon of towers, pooling across the road in long ribbons of light and shadow. Cabs and a delivery truck nose through the gloom while a vertical sign blazes high overhead, its lettering catching the last of the day. The whole street feels caught between brilliance and dusk.
Worked entirely in tonal washes of grey and black, the scene is built from confident, gestural marks that suggest rather than spell out every detail. The effect is filmic and immediate.
This is an original ink on Indian paper painting, part of the Artisan Paper Collection. Float mounted with a black frame, it is signed by Paul Kenton.
