“Venetian Drift”

Sunset floods the canal, the sky burning rose and amber behind a great domed church while a small boat carves a glittering wake down the centre of the water. Palazzi rise warm on either side, their reflections melting into deep teal shadow as the day's last light streams toward us.
Kenton plays the heat of the sky against the cool of the water with assured washes, a few crisp ink touches holding the architecture in place.
This is an original watercolour and ink on Indian paper, part of the Artisan Paper Collection, float mounted with a black frame, by Paul Kenton.
