About “Wave After Wave”

“This was painted an hour or two before jumping in at Coombesgate for a surf, so I used the opportunity to keep an eye out on the conditions, as well as the point. Morte Point has a rich history, as it was used for target practice in the war, leaving craters in the land. Even today, shells are found unexploded. On this glorious day, I painted quickly to capture the moment, using strong gestural marks and a vivid colour palette.”
