"New York Noir" is an original mixed media painting on board drawing the viewer deep into a rain-soaked Manhattan street at night, the illuminated crown of the Chrysler Building glowing at the end of the canyon ahead whilst amber and orange light fractures across the wet road below. Autumn trees line the darkened buildings on either side, their warm tones a fleeting counterpoint to the cool blue-grey of the city closing in around them, with bold palette knife work building layer upon layer of texture and reflected light throughout. At 24 x 18 inches, it is a brooding, atmospheric piece that captures New York at its most cinematic — dark, alive and utterly compelling.
