Course terms
Last updated
These terms apply when you buy or watch a Paul Kenton Academy online course. Please read them before you buy. If your order also includes artwork, our Terms of Sale cover the artwork.
1. Who we are
Paul Kenton Ltd, registered in England & Wales (Company No. 06295741), registered office Bay Studio, Hele Business Park, Ilfracombe, Devon, EX34 9RA. “We” means Paul Kenton Ltd; “you” means the person buying or watching. Email [email protected].
2. Buying a course
- You must be 18 or over to buy.
- The price includes VAT for where you live: 20% in the UK, your own country’s rate in the EU, none elsewhere. We go by your billing address. We charge in pounds sterling; prices in euros or dollars are a guide.
- Pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or a Paul Kenton gift card. Klarna isn’t available for courses.
- Our contract starts when we email to say your course is ready, or, for a course you buy as a gift, when we email to confirm your order.
3. Your access
- The course is in your Paul Kenton account. You sign in with a code we email you.
- Lessons stream online and aren’t offered as downloads. Watch them as often as you like for as long as we offer the course.
- If we stop offering a course, we’ll email you at least 3 months before. If that’s within 12 months of your purchase, we’ll refund a share of the price for the months left in those 12.
- We may improve a course, but we won’t take away a significant part of what you paid for.
4. Your account
- Your access is personal. Please don’t share your sign-in or let others watch on your account. You may watch with a child in your household, under your supervision.
- If you share your account or the course materials, we’ll normally warn you first. If it carries on, or it’s serious (such as posting the films online), we may end your access without a refund.
5. What’s included, and what you need
- Each course includes its video lessons, with captions, chapters and transcripts; a PDF guide for each lesson; the reference images shown in each lesson; and a list of materials. Art materials and personal feedback from Paul aren’t included.
- You’ll need an up-to-date browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and an internet connection that can stream video.
- For help signing in or playing the course, email [email protected]. We can’t fix problems with your own device or connection.
6. Changing your mind
- You can cancel within 14 days of buying for a full refund, as long as you haven’t started a lesson.
- At checkout you ask for access straight away and agree that you lose this right once you start a lesson. Starting means playing any part of a numbered lesson; the introduction and materials clips don’t count. We record which lessons you’ve played.
- To cancel, email [email protected] with your order number. We’ll refund you within 14 days, the way you paid: to your card, or onto a gift card for any part paid with one.
- A refund ends your access.
7. If something is wrong
If the course is faulty, for example a lesson won’t play or something is missing, tell us and we’ll fix it. If we can’t within a reasonable time, you’re entitled to a partial or full refund, whether or not you’ve started. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.
8. The materials and your paintings
- The films, guides and images belong to Paul Kenton Ltd or are used with permission. They’re for your own learning. Please don’t copy, record, share or sell them, or use them to teach.
- The paintings you make are yours to keep, share and sell. You’re welcome to say you learned on Paul’s course. Please don’t present them as Paul’s work: don’t sign them with his name, use his name or logo to sell them, or suggest he painted or approved them.
9. Painting safely
Follow the maker’s instructions for your materials, work somewhere well ventilated, keep paints away from children and pets, and protect your floors and clothes.
10. If you were given a course
If someone else paid for your course, or staff added it to your account, these terms apply to you, except that the right to cancel in section 6 belongs to the person who paid.
11. Changes, complaints and the law
- We may update these terms. Your purchase is covered by the version shown on the day you bought, unless the law requires a change.
- If you’re unhappy with anything, email [email protected] and we’ll do our best to put it right.
- These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales. If you live outside the UK, you keep your own country’s consumer protections, including the right to bring a claim there.
