"Manhattan Sunset" is an original mixed media painting on boxed canvas capturing Manhattan Bridge at the end of a tree-lined street, framed by a sky ablaze with orange, pink and gold as the day draws to a close. Bold palette knife marks build the scene with extraordinary energy — dripped reds and blues cascade down the buildings on either side whilst the wet road below catches the dying light in a river of molten gold running straight to the bridge ahead. At 31.5 x 74cm, the wide panoramic format mirrors the sweeping warmth of the scene, making it one of Paul's most vivid and uplifting New York works.
