Manhattan En Plein Air Studies
New York2024
Description
Manhattan En Plein Air Studies collects the loose, fast studies Paul Kenton made while painting on location during visits to New York — the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, water towers and fire escapes above brownstone streets, Times Square in full colour, and a rain-glossed avenue near the Chrysler Building.
Working en plein air pushes the paint handling looser and more urgent than Kenton's studio pieces, with quick, confident marks standing in for architectural detail and colour doing the work of describing light and weather.
This is the largest of the print collection sets: a Limited Edition Giclée reproduction on fine art paper bringing together a group of individual studies, giving a genuinely broad, sketchbook-like view across the city.
