Chrysler Lights
New York2023
Description
Chrysler Lights catches the Chrysler Building at the moment evening begins — its silver spire glowing against the last blue of the sky while the streets below fall into shadow. Kenton deepened the shadows here to sharpen the shine of the lights, letting the building's illuminated crown and the warm glow of shopfronts and a passing yellow cab do the work.
Reflections pool across the wet pavement in streaks of gold and amber, while bare, autumn-toned trees frame the street on either side. It's a quintessential New York nocturne — dramatic without losing the intimacy of a single city block.
Chrysler Lights is number 362 from Paul Kenton's 365 project, in which he painted a new piece every day for a year. This limited edition giclée reproduction is printed on fine art paper and sold unframed.
