Chrysler Shines
New York2022
Description
Chrysler Shines looks straight up a Manhattan avenue toward the Chrysler Building's famous spire, its illuminated crown catching the last pale blue light of the sky. Kenton describes the mood well himself: lights from taxis and inside the building flicker and reflect, brightening what would otherwise be an overcast New York scene.
Red-brick facades and glass towers frame the street on either side, while bare, autumn-toned trees and a stream of amber-lit traffic carry the eye down toward street level. It's a study in contrast — a cool sky against warm city light.
Chrysler Shines is number 066 from Paul Kenton's 365 project, in which he painted a new piece every day for a year. This limited edition giclée reproduction is printed on fine art paper and sold unframed.
