Description

Downtown Reflections sends yellow taxis surging forward through rain-darkened Manhattan streets, their reflections blazing beneath skyscrapers that rise in layered amber shadow. Traffic light and daylight shimmer across the wet road, transforming the everyday rush of the city into a dramatic interplay of light, depth and atmosphere.

Paul Kenton builds the buildings from warm, weighty strokes of ochre and brown that give way to a cool, pale sky at the street's vanishing point, the three cabs anchoring the composition as they close the distance to the viewer.

This embellished giclée print is hand-finished on boxed canvas at 70 x 140cm or framed at 76 x 146cm, part of the New York Collection, produced as a Limited Edition of 195.
