Description

Shades Of The City looks straight down a rain-slicked Manhattan avenue, its skyscrapers rising in dark silhouette on either side as a pale strip of evening sky glows at the vanishing point. Below, a cluster of yellow cabs and neon shopfronts punctuate the gloom with bursts of colour.

The wet crosswalk in the foreground doubles every light source, turning the street into a long, rippling mirror of gold, teal and red. It's a quieter, more contemplative read of New York, busy in detail but still in mood.
