Description

A slender white spire catches the last light of day in this original gouache painting, set deep within a glacial Swiss valley. Paul Kenton frames the small alpine church against towering, glacier-streaked peaks, the scale of the mountains softened by warm evening colour along the horizon.

Painted en plein air, 'Alpine Sanctuary' pairs loose, confident brushwork on the rock faces with quieter, more careful detail around the church and rooftops — the human note that anchors an otherwise vast, elemental landscape.

Part of the Seascapes and Mountainscapes Collection, this piece sits alongside Paul's wider body of mountain paintings inspired by the phenomenal extremes of the natural world.
