Manhattan Burst, an original painting by Paul Kenton: a glowing city avenue at dusk framed by an arch of bursting, splattered red, violet and gold paint.

Manhattan Burst, an original painting by Paul Kenton, hangs on a white gallery wall. A central view of a city avenue at sunset is framed by bursts of multicoloured splatter, with a pair of glittering pink shoes on a plinth below.

Description

Manhattan Burst detonates a New York avenue into pure energy. At its heart, a deep canyon of skyscrapers races towards a glowing orange vanishing point, the last band of daylight caught in a wedge of blue and violet sky above. From that still centre the whole city erupts outward in a storm of flung colour.

Paul layers mixed media with shimmering metallics, spattering lilac, crimson, cobalt, gold and white across the surface until the streetscape seems to explode with light, movement and noise. The disciplined perspective at the core holds the chaos together, so the eye is pulled down the burning street even as the edges dissolve into celebration.

A large, statement original in mixed media and metallics on boxed canvas, Manhattan Burst measures 150 x 150 cm.
