Description

Night Drive is an original painting from Paul Kenton's New York Collection, capturing a rain-soaked road after dark as a single car pulls away into the distance. Streetlamps burn a deep amber against the night, their glow blooming through the trees that crowd either side of the carriageway.

Kenton lets the wet asphalt do the work, pulling the warm light of the lamps and the car's tail lights into long vertical streaks that run down the foreground in molten orange and white. Cool violets and greys in the road are struck through with these hot reflections, the loose, confident brushwork giving the whole scene a sense of motion and quiet solitude.

As an original painting, it measures 45.5 x 61 cm.
