Description

Blazing Broadway is New York after dark, a dense square-format composition built almost entirely from glowing reds and molten gold. Neon signage and shopfront light saturate the street, with a dark tower rising through the centre of the frame as a cool counterpoint to the surrounding heat.

Thick impasto texture and reflective colour capture the restless movement of the street below, where cars catch and scatter the light across a wet, rain-slicked road. Worked in mixed media and metallics on boxed canvas at 122 x 122 cm, the piece has real physical presence — a symphony of motion and shine built up in layers of paint.

Part of Paul Kenton's New York Collection, "Blazing Broadway" is a powerful, immersive night scene for anyone drawn to the theatre and energy of Manhattan after dark.
