Description

Celestial Blooms reimagines the water lily pond as a shimmering, moonlit field of colour, its surface built from iridescent metallic golds, pinks, greens and blues in a clear homage to Monet's timeless subject. Two pink lotus flowers punctuate the composition, floating among densely worked lily pads as a column of warm, fiery light falls through the centre of the pond and dissolves into cooler blues and purples at the margins.

Paul is an avid 'plein air' painter, and pieces like this one carry the spirit of that practice into the studio, where smaller outdoor studies become the guide for larger, more considered works. At 55 x 60 inches (139.5 x 152.5cm), this original mixed media and metallics on boxed canvas is a substantial studio piece, part of the Landscapes Collection.
