Description

City After Dark fixes Manhattan at its most theatrical hour, the Brooklyn Bridge tracing a gold-lit arc across the left of the canvas while the skyline recedes into a wide band of light along the water. Deep blue dominates the palette, with gold and white cutting through the darkness wherever the buildings and bridge catch the light, and warm reflections breaking apart across the surface of the river below.

Painted in mixed media and metallics on board, the wide, narrow 85 x 30cm format was chosen to suit the panoramic sweep of the skyline, letting the composition read as a single continuous band of light and shadow. It's a compact, intense study of the city after hours, part of Paul Kenton's ongoing New York Collection.

Presented in a black ornate floating frame, this original is a one-off piece.
