Description

Embers of the City stretches upward through a narrow Manhattan canyon, its buildings rendered in hot amber, orange and red as if lit from within. At the top of the composition a pale, needle-topped tower catches cooler light, offering a moment of relief from the surrounding warmth.

Below, taxis glow along a rain-slicked street, their light scattering into long reflections that anchor the painting's sense of scale. Built up in mixed media and metallic pigment on boxed canvas, the surface has real physical texture beneath the colour.

At 244 x 152.5cm this is a substantial, vertical-format piece from the New York collection.
