Fifth Avenue Haze

Figures stride down a hazy Fifth Avenue, their long shadows stretching across the pavement toward us. Skyscrapers tower into a pale mist, the slender spire of the Chrysler Building rising at the end of the street while signage marks the way. Worked in watercolour and ink, the scene is a study in light, shadow and the anonymous flow of the city.

Paul Kenton's gestural drips and confident dark washes give the monochrome a raw, kinetic charge, the haze swallowing the buildings into soft grey distance.

Fifth Avenue Haze is an original watercolour and ink painting on Indian paper from the New York Collection, part of the Artisan Paper Collection. Float mounted in a black frame, it is a unique, one-off original.
