Description

Flat Iron Hustle sets New York's famous wedge-shaped tower against a street corner in full autumn colour, gold and amber foliage lining a wet Broadway pavement. Two figures shelter under umbrellas in the foreground, one in red beneath a black umbrella, the other beneath blue, giving the scene a human scale against the surrounding architecture.

A red Jazz Cafe awning and a Broadway street sign anchor the right of the composition, while a string of yellow cabs threads along the rain-reflective road. It's a busier, more narrative piece than many of Kenton's night cityscapes, built from the same layered mixed media and metallic technique on boxed canvas.
