Description
Beneath the dark girders of an elevated track, the avenue smoulders with warmth. Yellow cabs idle in pools of amber light, neon signage flickers above a corner storefront, and the wet road throws long reflections back into the gloom. There is a cinematic stillness here, the city caught between motion and pause.
Working in watercolour, gouache and ink, Paul Kenton plays deep shadow against electric glow, the heavy structure overhead framing a stage of light below.
Glow on the Avenue is an original mixed-media painting on Indian paper from Kenton's Street Scene collection, part of the Artisan Paper Collection. Float mounted in a black frame, it is a unique, one-off original.
