Description

Hossegor Surf sets a line of small silhouetted figures against a vast, theatrical sky over Hossegor beach — deep purple storm cloud breaking apart under bands of warm orange light, with a last patch of clear blue holding out at one edge. The wide beach and rolling surf below feel almost incidental beneath the drama overhead.

Painted in watercolour on paper, Paul Kenton lets the sky do the heavy lifting, building it in loose, wet washes that bleed and merge, while the figures and waterline are held in tighter, more controlled strokes for contrast.
