Description

Ilfracombe Cliffs is a vivid, close-cropped oil study of the steep, green-clad cliffs that give this North Devon coastal town its dramatic character. Paul Kenton contrasts sunlit slopes of yellow-green grass against deep navy shadow, with a band of turquoise sea threading through the base of the composition and a pale strip of exposed rock catching the light.

The saturated colour and tight framing give the piece real punch for its size - a snapshot of coastal drama rather than a wide panorama, built from confident, loaded strokes of oil on board.
