Description

Ilfracombe Sparkle is a large, sunlit gouache of the cliffs above Ilfracombe on the North Devon coast, painted at a genuinely substantial 72 x 60 cm framed. Paul Kenton lays down confident, high-key washes of turquoise and teal for the sea, with warm golden and ochre highlights catching the light across the rock face - the 'sparkle' of the title.

Deep green and navy shadow give the cliffs weight and structure, while the sea's brighter passages carry the eye out toward open water. It's one of the larger, more ambitious works in Kenton's North Devon coastal output, with scale to match its confident colour.

Framed in a warm champagne moulding, this substantial original captures Ilfracombe's cliffs at their most luminous.
