Laid Back, an original painting by Paul Kenton in a black floating frame: a dense, energetic abstract of looping red, blue and gold brushstrokes over fragmented blocks of colour.

Laid Back, an original painting by Paul Kenton: a dense, energetic abstract cityscape of overlapping arches, rectangles and bold brushstrokes in red, orange, yellow and blue, with flashes of metallic sheen.

Laid Back, an original mixed media painting by Paul Kenton, hangs on an easel in a studio splashed with paint. Its busy, bold swirls of orange, red, yellow and blue read like a jostling city.

Description

Laid Back is a large-scale abstract built from cascades of dripped and flicked paint, vertical streaks of gold, orange and red raining down through a deep blue and black ground. Turquoise and white spatter breaks up the rhythm, giving the whole surface a sense of constant, controlled motion.

Painted in mixed media and metallics on boxed canvas, the impasto texture is heavy throughout, with thick ridges of paint catching the light differently depending on where you stand.

At 213.5 x 152.5cm, this is one of Paul's largest abstract works, made for a wall it can properly command. Part of the Abstract Collection.
